Oiler Baseball bounces back after slow start to season……
Starting the season as the #1 ranked 6A team in the state is quite a feat, but it also comes with some consequences. Being the top dog in the largest division in a state absolutely loaded with baseball talent puts a giant bullseye on your back. The Pearland Oilers learned just that as they started their 2023 season with a 5-3 record through their first 8 games. They lost their opener to a tough George Ranch team, ran into LSU commit Casan Evans(St. Pius X) who was dominate on the mound with 9 strike outs and then lost 2-1 to the #1, 5A team in the state Friendswood. You tend to see everyone’s ace pitcher when your ranked #1. Since the end of the First Pitch Varsity Tournament hosted by the Oilers, they have gone 6-1 and the bats have come alive, scoring 22 runs in their last two games, only allowing 2. The boys have some good games on the horizon as they take on Ridge Point and Deer Park in the upcoming tournament this week in Baytown.
