Five Pearland lacrosse players were recently recognized by the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) with All-District Honors and selected to the Division II All-Star Game.
Attackmen Kyle Dunklee, a junior at Pearland High School and Jacob Hamilton, a sophomore at Dawson High School earned first team All-District honors. Midfielder Tyler Watts, a Dawson High School sophomore and defender Zac Crosby from Pearland High School were also recognized with first team All-District honors and goalie Dusty Moore, a Pearland High School junior, was named Honorable Mention.
All five players were selected to the TSHLL Lacrosse League Division II All-Star game.
Tim O’Brien, head coach for the Rail Cats, will serve as assistant coach for the All-Star team which draws the top Division II players from St. Thomas, Pearland, Sienna Plantation, Bellaire, Friendswood DII, Emery Weiner, Ft. Bend, Lamar and Taylor High School.
“I am honored to coach five of my players on the All Star team this year,” Coach O’Brien said. “Overall, I am extremely proud of all my players. We had our best season yet. With only two graduating seniors, we will be able to maintain a strong roster next year and I expect we could have a good chance to advance to the state tournament.”
O’Brien led the Rail Cats to a 4-1 finish in the district with an overall season record of 13 wins and four losses.
The Pearland lacrosse team finished second in the South Division to Saint Thomas High School, who went on to play in the State Championship Tournament.
Pearland was chosen to host the All Star Game which is scheduled Saturday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Dawson High School.
