Friday night, the Lady Oilers hosted the visiting Alief Taylor Lions. The Oilers started out in attack mode and never looked back. It was a dominating night for Pearland, as Alief Taylor looked outmatched on all fronts.
The Oilers won the first set 25-11, with little resistance from the Lions. If there was little resistance in the first set, there was even less in the second set.
The second set started out with red hot play from Pearland, led by server Megan Keasler. The Oilers jumped out to a quick 19-0 lead before winning the set 25-7.
Alief Taylor played their best set of the game in the third, but it still was not enough to match up against the dominant Pearland Oilers. Pearland won the third set 25-16 respectively to complete the sweep.
Leading the attack for the Oilers were Victoria Kenney with 11 kills and Sarah Wright with 9. Grace Lee anchored the Oiler defense with 28 digs, followed by Megan Keasler with 13. Abi Watts had 24 assists on the night and Katie Whitehead had 13.
The Lady Oilers improved to 23-8 overall and 7-1 in Districts. Their next game will be held Tuesday, October 11, at Alief Hastings at 6:30 PM.
