My name is Dave McCoy. My family moved to Friendswood when I was four years old and I lived there most of my life. I recently retired from the Houston Police Department after almost 30 years and have turned a part time passion into a full time business. I am the owner/operator of High Tide Guide Service, LLC. I’ll be contributing articles to Pearlandsports.com that will deal with fishing the Galveston Bay complex for Speckled Trout, Redfish and Flounder.
As a young kid, I rode my bicycle all over Friendswood, fishing every creek and pond that I could find. My father was no different than any other father of that era, work, work, work. There wasn’t much time to teach a kid how to fish. I learned what I could from outdoor fishing shows and through trial and error.
Pearlandsports.com has asked me to share what knowledge and information I have learned in hopes that it will help you enjoy a day of fishing, SUCCESFULLY!
I am by no means an expert, and anyone claiming to be probably isn’t, but I have been fishing most of my life and consider myself to be a successful fisherman. In 2000, I obtained an Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) License from the United States Coast Guard. In short, a Captains License, allowing me to take people fishing for a fee. In addition to the OUPV, I hold a Texas Parks and Wildlife Fishing Guide License. Both are required of anyone taking people fishing in the coastal waters for a fee.
What I will attempt to do with each new article is provide you with tidbits of information to help you catch fish. I will tell you what works for me, be it live bait or artificial lures, and how I fish them. There is more than one way to skin a cat, but the methods I employ have proven successful for me, and I believe they will make you a better fisherman.
These articles will inform you how I, or others I know, rig for success on the water. I will also provide short video clips of on the water action and video tutorials of how to rig for different species of fish.
I will make myself available to you for any questions you may have. I can be reached at email@example.com, or through my website www.hightideguideservice.com
Book a trip, let’s go fishing.
