Premium Content Pearland vs Atascocita

NRG Stadium, Saturday Nov 19, Pearland vs Atascocita, the journey ended.

Playoff season can be exciting for one team, and upsetting for the other. This was the second round for Pearland. They lost in a tough game 14-35 against the Atascocita Eagles. As like any team would in the playoffs, the Oilers gave it their best to make it to t
he next round; losing terminated that chance. Even though they lost, there were highlights that they made.

At the beginning of the game, Atascocita had fumbled the ball and Pearland recovered it. Derek Parish tackled the Eagle’s nrg-game-2quarterback as he ran for it. Mitchell Johnson also tackled the quarterback as he ran for it. Blake Parish caught an interception. Derek Parish sacked Atascocita’s quarterback. Jaelin Benefield runs and scored the first touchdown for the Oilers and Jacob Keller  kicked the extra point right after. Davier Pinkston made a good run going through the Eagles defense. Chase Keasler sacked the Eagle’s quarterback. Quarterback Jacob Whitehead made a good run, passing through the Eagles as he ran for it. Close to the end zone, Twiston Gibson made a good catch giving Pearland a first down. Jaelin Benefield made a great run cutting through Eagle territory gaining many yards and a first down. Down at the end zone with only a couple yards to go, quarterback Jacob Whitehead ran through through the middle and scored a Pearland Oiler touchdown, and Jacob Keller made the extra point right after.

This was a tough game for Pearland, and even though they lost 14-35, the Oilers played the best they could and Coach Heath was proud of them for their hard work.
After the game I asked Coach Heath about his feelings about the game, and he said “Well obviously I don’t feel very good, because I mean, you know I’m proud of our kids, I thought they gave a tremendous effort. Again we were going in with a little bit of unhealthy kids. Every kid we had they gave the best they could. And you know the senior class will go out of this class and at the end of the day, when they look back on it they’ll be proud of what they did.”
The Pearland Oilers might have lost, but they will still have their pride in the end. We all should congratulate them for their hard work and hope the seniors the best for what lies ahead of them as they continue their lives.

Premium Content Dawson vs Clear Brook

On Friday, November 11th, the Dawson Eagles gave a good fight against the Clear Brook Wolverines but unfortunately fell short ending with a score of 55 to 49 at The Rig.

Throughout the game, Niko Thomas had multiple great plays scoring touchdowns in the first and third quarter and finally the last touchdown for Dawson in the fourth quarter leaving the Eagles leading at 49 to 42.  Also, you can’t forget about Lance Charles scoring a rushing touchdown and Chase Smith scoring in the fourth quarter putting the score at 35 to 42. Claire Jeffress made 6 field goals and Lance Charles along with Bam Smith had great runs throughout the first half of the game.

Of course Dawson’s defense remained strong throughout the game but the whole defense rallied together the first drive of the second half. Desmond Clifton had a great sack at the beginning of the second half along with Joel Smith’s outstanding defensive stops throughout the fight. Unfortunately, this was the last game for the Dawson Eagle football team but they made us proud.
